What is web hosting?

Web hosting is the means by which websites are made available to the internet. Your website is a collection of different types of data files which are stored on a computer called a Web Server. Web servers are generally housed in purpose designed buildings called data centres. A data centre can house thousands of web servers and is connected via a very high speed connection, directly to the main internet backbone. All public Internet Service Providers such as British Telecom are also connected to this backbone.

We can provide you with use of our shared Thawte SSL certificate for sites that need to transmit data via an encrypted connection.

Domain Name Registration
We can deal with your domain name registration and administration at very competitive prices so you won't need to worry about renewals. Domain name fees are dependent on the type of domain. A .co.uk domain currently costs around £5 per annum + VAT.

We offer telephone and email support to all our clients.

This package is designed for larger e-commerce and shop sites which need a high, ongoing level of technical support. We constantly monitor the performance of these sites to ensure that they are operating correctly and to minimise any down-time.

supported features

ASP

ASP is one of the most widely used programming languages on the web. Our servers are configured to support both the classic version 3 and the newer .NET varieties.

MySQL Databases

The ultra fast MySQL database engine is installed on our servers. This is thought to be the fastest database engine in the world and is used by many major companies including Google.

MS Access Databases

We provide full support for Microsoft Access databases, however these are not recommended for high traffic websites where there are likely to be more than six concurrent users.

ABC Upload

ABC upload is a file upload component which allows website visitors to upload files and images to the web server. This is particularly useful for content management systems.

csImageFile

This is a very useful component which allows images to be edited and merged on the web server using a normal web browser interface.

Merak Mail Server

One of the market leading mail server programmes, merak offers advanced mail handling features and full webmail facilities.

Shared SSL

We hold a Thawte SSL certificate which is available to any of our websites that need to use an encrypted page for sensitive data transfer.

An example of this would be sending credit card details via a web form.
