Before starting
the design of your
website there are
a number of vital
areas that need
to be carefully
considered.
What
do you want to do
with your website?
This may seem a
silly question but
establishing your
expectations is
very important to
us. We need to be
sure that we can
realistically deliver
what you are expecting.
Also, we may be
able to suggest
things that you
hadn't considered
that could make
your website far
more successful.
What
is your target market?
Clearly establishing
your target market
is key in deciding
the visual style
of your website.
It is also the starting
point for search
engine optimisation
and keyword research
(see the next paragraph
for more information).
How
will people find
your website?
This is the most
important question
of all. Driving
traffic towards
your website needs
a carefully planned
strategy. One method
of doing this is
SEO (search engine
optimisation), which
is discussed in
more detail below.
Others include conventional
advertising such
as press, radio,
TV and your own
business literature
etc. One of the
most powerful methods
in use today is
PPC (pay per click)
advertising which
is also explained
below.
What
is SEO?
SEO is an acronym
for Search Engine
Optimisation. This
is the process of
refining the textual
content of your
website so that
search engines like
Google will clearly
understand what
you sell or do.
Getting this right
is very important
if you wish to be
found on search
engines, which are
the means by which
most visitors will
find your website.
There are also other
factors to do with
the technical design
and layout of your
website, which we
also take into account.
What
is Pay Per Click?
Pay Per Click is
an extremely powerful
form of web marketing
offered by most
search engines.
When someone clicks
on a search engine
entry that leads
them to your website
this is called a
click-through. With
pay per click you
can pay to have
links to your website
showing in prominent
positions on search
engine pages. These
are called Sponsored
Links. Each time
someone clicks through
to your website
you pay a small
fee. The amount
of this fee is dependent
on several factors,
including how near
the top of the the
page you want your
ad to be and how
much competition
there is for your
products or services
on the search engine
concerned. PPC works
by attaching key
words and phrases
to your advert.
If for example you
sell red shoes you
could attach the
search phrase 'red
shoes' to your advert.
When anyone searches
for 'red shoes'
your advert would
show. You could
attach multiple
key words or phrases
to an ad, such as
'shoes', 'leather
shoes', 'women's
shoes' etc. etc.
When someone searches
against any of these
phrases your ad
would show.
To
construct a PPC
marketing campaign
we will use special
software to establish
how many searches
are made for any
words or phrases
that are relevant
to your products
or services. We
will also look for
any related and
lateral keywords.
These are keywords
that will attract
people who are looking
for something else
but who would fit
into your target
market. Once we
have established
the strongest search
terms the campaign
can be built. It
is often the case
that the best keywords
are not necessarily
the most popular
ones. The other
important thing
we consider is the
number of competing
vendors.
The
real beauty of PPC
is that it is instant.
Once your website
is online PPC can
bring you traffic
in minutes! The
other good things
are that you only
pay for results
and you can set
a daily spending
limit and so keep
full control over
your budget.
Below
are just some examples
of what we offer
and we can of course
tailor things to
meet your exact
needs. Our prices
range from £99
+ VAT for a single
page micro site
to several thousand
pounds for a complex
bespoke business
solution.
